If you have holdings attached to a Holder Identification Number (HIN) that is registered with another broker, you can choose to:
- Transfer your entire HIN and all its holdings to OpenMarkets OR
- Transfer only some holdings to a new OpenMarkets HIN
You can provide this instruction in the CHESS Sponsorship section of the OpenMarkets Application From.
If you already have an existing HIN with OpenMarkets and you wish to transfer holdings from another broker, you'll need to download/complete a standalone HIN Transfer Form.
In this case we would not be able to transfer the actual HIN (as you cannot have two HINs attached to one account), only the individual holdings.
How broker-to-broker HIN/holdings transfers work
Moving securities from one broker (or custodian) to another requires us to instruct that broker/custodian to initiate the transfer on your behalf. Once the securities have been delivered to OpenMarkets your holdings balance will be updated.
How long do transfers take?
Once we receive your transfer request, it should be completed within 48 - 72 hours.
